| The quality and standard of search
listings provided on DON8
is essential to our advertisers and visitors. It ensures that
we provide both highly relevant search results for our visitors
and targeted, qualified leads for our advertisers. With this in
mind we have created the Advertiser Guidelines to ensure that
our advertisers meet the following:
1. General relevancy
In order to maintain the highest standards of relevancy within
our search listings, DON8
reserves the right to amend any listings at any time (this rarely
happens and the advertiser will receive email notification of
any changes made). This may also include the grammar or language
submitted or used by an advertiser. An advertiser should only
choose search terms that are relevant to their site.
2. Title & description relevancy
All titles and descriptions should accurately describe the web
site and the products and services offered.
3. Url (Domain Name)
Wherever possible, the advertiser should submit a Url that takes
the consumer directly to the relevant web page to the search
term. It is the advertisers responsibility to ensure that all
URLs submitted are not dead links. This way we can ensure the
highest standard of user experience.
4. Intellectual property
We will only accept, as a search term, a company name where
the advertiser is the owner of the brand in question or can
demonstrate permission or right of use.
5. Adult web sites
A web site that DON8
deems to be an 'adult' site, due to the nature of its content,
may only bid on specifically adult related and highly targeted
search terms.
6. Refunds
We forward funds to our charities upon receipt and because of this we are unable to make refunds to any advertiser. Advertisers will receive the total amount of traffic they have paid for and they can modify their search terms and descriptions at any time.
TIPS & HINTS
Please read the following to help you optimise your advertising
listings on DON8:
1. Use the 'Quick Links' to generate more traffic.
On our home page we provide our users with 'Quick Links' to some of the most popular search keywords. You can display your site on the results page by adding the search keywords that show up in the link.
For example, if you click the 'Job Search' link within Education & Career the url displayed will read:
http://www.don8.org/don8/don8.cgi?keywords=UK+Job+Search&show=20&shown=20&crawlsite=2
so you would need to add a listing for the search keywords 'uk job search' all seperated by a space. Search keywords are not case sensitive. We intend to expand the 'Quick Links' in the future so please check back with us regularly so you don't miss any opportunity to drive more visitors to your web site.
2. The more search terms you bid on the more likely you
are to reach targeted customers.
You should select a broad range of search terms that are relevant
to the products and services you offer. There is no limit to
the number of search terms you can add to your account and the
more you have the more visitors you will receive.
3. Bid higher on relevant search terms.
The higher you bid the more likely you are to get customers
clicking through to your web site. If there are two or more
advertisers offering similar products or services visitors are
more likely to visit the site making the biggest donation to
charity.
4. Monitor the Keyword Popularity.
We provide a useful facility that lets our advertisers view the search
terms that users enter into our search engine. You can use this
information to optimize your search terms and increase your visitor
numbers. To use this service log in to your account and click
the 'Search Bids' link and enter your keyword into the search
box: 'Check keyword popularity:'. Enter a keyword that is relative to
your site into the search box and the service will produce a list of
all the search terms used that contain your keyword and the number of
times the search term was used. You could then add relevant search
terms to your account to increase the number of times your listing is
displayed. This service is updated at the end of every month.
5. Keep your account live and active.
If you let your account go off-line, by letting your funds run
dry, you risk losing your position. If your account goes off-line
and you subsequently make a new donation, your advert would
be placed below advertisers bidding the same amount. We will
send you an email reminder when your account gets low but it
is your responsibility to ensure that there are sufficient funds
in your account to keep your account live.
6. Be descriptive and accurate with the description
of your web pages.
Letting the consumer know exactly what your web site offers
potentially increases the likelihood of increasing click-throughs
to your site. We suggest you give consumers a good understanding
of what your web site has to offer.
7. Submit URL's that take the customer directly to the
relevant page.
Point consumers to the web page that specifically relates to
the chosen search term, make it as easy as possible for your
customers to get what they want quickly and effortlessly.
In extreme circumstances DON8
reserves the right at its sole discretion to reject certain
web sites, due to the nature of the web sites content, from
advertising on DON8.
